Busy-ness

Phew! What a whirlwind weekend we had in our house.  That’s why I haven’t posted anything since last Thursday, even though I’ve done not one but two runs since then!   Here’s a quick run-down (ha, pun intended!) of what kept me hopping all weekend:

Friday night:

  • Birthday party for my brother-in-law

Saturday

  • 5-mile run at 6am
  • Optometrist appointment at 9:30am
  • Parade at 11am to watch my nephew march with the band
  • Wedding ceremony at 1:30pm
  • Back home to get cleaned up for the reception and get my husband
  • Wedding reception at 5pm

Sunday

  • Spent all morning processing pictures I took of the wedding.  (I am getting better at processing pictures, but I’m finding that to really do them justice, it takes a long time!!)
  • Walk in (another) parade with my son’s hockey team from 12:30–2:30pm
  • Back home to do more work on the pictures
  • Up to the hockey rink at 4pm for DS#1’s hockey clinic from 4:30-6pm (where I also worked on pictures)
  • Dropped off CD of the (mostly) finished pictures to the bride and groom for them to enjoy while they wait for the real photographer’s pictures (after spending nearly every free moment I had working on my pictures Sunday, I see why the real pros take so long!)
  • Back home to dive into the pool and then stay up late, still working on the pictures because I am just never satisfied, ha ha!

So that’s where I’ve been! 😉 In addition, I also got in a 3-mile run Monday morning before work.  I think I’m finally done with the pictures, which I shared online with the rest of my family and friends Monday night.  I did not get a chance to ask the bride and groom if I could have permission to post their pictures on my blog, but I plan to ask when they return from their honeymoon, so hopefully I’ll have a fun photography-themed blog post in the next few weeks. 😀

Now that you’ve seen the bullet points of my weekend, here it all is in pictures:

My ankle/tendon really started hurting at about mile 3, but I braved on, and it felt good to get it done.  Lots of activity points for dinner at the reception! 😉  I iced it right after I finished the run (as shown above), and that helped.

That’s me at the first parade, painting my toenails because it was the only chance I had to do it before the wedding! *snort*

There’s me in the infamous dress.  I try to be modest most of the time, I really do, but in this particular case, I am not ashamed to admit that…

I ROCKED IT!!!!!! 😉

I had a great time at the reception, and I even stopped taking pictures long enough to enjoy some…

It was delicious.  In fact, the cake was so damn good, I didn’t stop at one piece.  I didn’t even stop at two. 😉 I did, however, only get a picture of two.

Yeah, I pretty much ate my weight in cake (what awesome rhyming!) on Saturday night, using up every activity point I earned with that 5-mile run, but it was worth every piece—chocolate, white, and cherry!  😉 I also worked it off a little Sunday by walking 2 miles in the parade with my boys to represent DS#2’s (and formerly DS#1’s) hockey association.

It was hot, but we had a great time! Then, before I weighed myself on Monday morning, I ran one more time.

My ankle was tight, but I took it easy for this run and didn’t push myself.  Thankfully, it did not hurt like it had last week.  I was so happy that it was finally starting to feel better!

After that, I was finally able to gird my loins and hop on the scale to determine the results of eating all that food this weekend…

Woohoo!  I only gained .6 pounds, which is truly awesome.  (For reference regarding the awesomeness, please make note of the amount of cake consumed in paragraph nine. 😉 )

And that was my weekend!  As busy as it was, it included all the things I love: running, taking pictures, hanging out with my extended family, quality time with my boys.  And, oh yeah…

Thanks so much for reading! 🙂

You definitely rocked that dress, sweetie. I love this powerful, confident you. You are awesome. And way to enjoy yourself at the reception, what a special occassion.

    Mmm…cake.

Photo processing takes forever. If I have sufficient warning about the wedding date, I’ve been known to take an extra day off so the pictures aren’t still being processed when the Happy Couple *returned* from their honeymoon.

I’m not a professional, just a crazy woman with an SLR. But family and friends seem to appreciate the pictures!
