Big Accomplishments

Oh the accomplishments! Let me count the ways!

First off…

That’s my Lenox tree.  I finally got it put up late Wednesday night.  Only 10 days before Christmas, ha ha! We put the “big” tree up over the course of a week early in December, but the Lenox tree is mine, and I don’t trust anyone else in the house to do it but me.  So…it had to wait until I had the time, and with the hockey games and practices, and Christmas concerts and parties, I just didn’t have time until Wednesday night. It was really bugging me, so I stayed up until after midnight, but I got it done!  Thankfully, I got to sleep in until 6am Thursday, since I didn’t have to run.

Speaking of running, there’s another accomplishment:

It was chilly this morning for sure, but I got out there and got 3 miles in before work.  I complain, but it’s supposed to be even worse early next week.  We’ll see if I can still make it out. 😛

Now here’s a major accomplishment:

That, my friends, is a tray full of my sister’s “famous” homemade Christmas cookies. She makes them every year, and of course, I always get a tray.  Er, I mean my family always gets a tray. 😉  The truth is, there hasn’t been a year since my sister started doing this that I haven’t taken at least half a dozen cookies on the way home from picking them up.  But not this year! That picture is evidence that the tray arrived without incidence, Press & Seal still intact. And, as of this moment, it’s still on the counter in that same condition.  Which is really shocking, since all three of my men were in the house for hours before going out to hockey and then to see the new Star Wars movie.  They’ve left me alone with this tray…probably not the best idea.  But I’m going to do my best to leave it alone, because I fear that the minute I “break the seal” to take just one, that will open the floodgates.  *sigh*  Being healthy can be really hard sometimes. But I just have to remember that it’s worth the effort in the end!

And my final accomplishment, well that has nothing to do with food or health or Christmas decorations.  That one has to do with my little photography habit, which I’ve been really working on these last few months, especially at Jamie’s high school hockey games.

That last one is mine. 😀

Now, in case you don’t know, I’ve been taking pictures at both my boys’ sporting events for nearly nine years.  I started with inauspicious beginnings, graduated to a DSLR, and then graduated to a big fancy lens earlier this year.  When I first started taking pictures of my boys and their teams, I had this crazy dream that maybe by the time they got to high school, I might be good enough to get one of my pictures in the paper.  Totally crazy, but dream big or go home, right?

Well…

Ta-da!!! I did it, and in just my first season of high school hockey!  😀  To be honest, it’s not my best picture, being that it’s just a picture of a single kid skating, without the puck, even, but I guess that’s what the paper was looking for–a clear, front-facing shot of that kid on the ice.  I won’t argue! 🙂  No, my name isn’t on the byline, but I’m sure the coach wasn’t even thinking about that when he sent over a bunch of my pictures to the paper when they requested it for the article. That’s okay, though, because he made sure to find me at the rink the day the paper came out to let me know my picture was in it.  I think he was as excited for my photography to be in the paper as I was.  Okay, maybe not, because I was really, really excited. 🙂

So that’s just another week in the Loud Redhead household!  Tune in next time to see how I fare with that tray of cookies. 😛

Thanks for reading!
