Unintentional Hiatus

I know it has been a long time…almost two months. 😮  I have never taken that much time off from my blog before, and I feel like a complete loser for deserting it (and the people who take the time to read it).  When I came back to it today for the first time since October, I saw that I even had some comments on my last post that I’d never seen. (The email notifications must not be working.)

I want to offer my sincere apologies for dropping off the face of the earth.  It was not intentional.  It just kind of happened as a result of a conglomeration of things. (Side note: does anyone actually use the word “conglomeration” besides me?)  Right after my two-week running break, at the end of football season, I got sick.  I was barely recovered (from both the illness and the dramatic, heart-breaking end to our football season) when we went right into full-on hockey season. In addition to four hockey tournaments in a five-week span, I also took on four team photo “jobs,” because apparently I can’t say no.

Then, sadly, my husband’s grandmother passed away.  My husband was raised by his grandparents, so as you can imagine, it was a very difficult time for him.  (Plus, we had a house guest for 8 days, and with a house as small as ours, that made things challenging.)  And now that the funeral is over and the house guest is gone…I’m sick again. 🙁

So I’m technically still not “back,” because I’m trying to recover from my second head cold in five weeks (a first for me) while completing the high school hockey team’s program book in time for Saturday’s home game and still finish their team photos as well.  I haven’t even started my Christmas cards (the chances of them being handmade this year are dwindling rapidly) and I have a dozen gifts that need to be shipped to North Carolina (the chances of them arriving by Christmas are also dwindling rapidly).  In other news, I’ve also gained 8 pounds.  😮

That’s pretty much all I can offer in this post. I’ll come back when I have more energy and time and maybe I’ll have lost a couple of these pounds that I gained in my two-month hiatus.  I will admit that I have really, really fallen off the wagon.  Way off.  To paraphrase the immortal words of Joey from Friends…I’m so far past the wagonthe wagon is a dot to me. Last month marked the 7th anniversary of when I started my final journey to health, and this is the first time in those 7 years that I’ve lost my motivation for such a lengthy stretch, and so completely.  Life’s tough sometimes, yo.

If you’re still here, thank you for sticking with me.  I will return…hopefully with more cheerfulness and some pictures, too. 🙂
