One of the Fun Ones

Late in the season, before our semi-final game, we had an exciting against one of the teams that had beaten us pretty soundly in the beginning of the season. This team was actually from my home town, but despite that fact that I have at least 7 relatives who live nearby (including my mom and sister), I didn’t invite any of them to the rink. I figured it would be another trouncing, and I didn’t want to invite anyone to watch that. Ha…maybe I jinxed us in a good way: we beat them 4-1.  Unfortunately, I really struggled with getting my pictures right at this arena. I have very few that I would even call decent.

This is #2, one of my favorite kids on the team. He’s an observant kid who actually notices me taking pictures on the glass during warm-ups, and he’s taken to posing for a quick shot while he awaits his turn to carry the puck. He and DS#1 have been together since their learn-to-skate days 5 years ago, and he is enthusiasm personified. As a fellow extrovert, I love that about him. He always makes me smile.

Gah. What a rotten shot. It could’ve been great had I gotten anything in focus. The glass at this arena was horribly filthy and scratched up, unfortunately. I wish I could blame my crappy pictures on the glass, but I think some of it had to be operator error.

I did like this one of DS#1 doing his job in keeping that forward’s stick off the ice.

I liked this action shot, but I probably could have upped the brightness here a bit. Not sure why the ISO on this was so low. (I had to double check it because that seems REALLY low for a hockey arena!) Clearly, I have a lot to learn.

Celebrating a hard-fought goal. Even if they’re not the best from a technical aspect, these shots are always fun to look at.
