Year End Post

The year is almost over.  Wow!  I’d say that it’s hard to believe, but it’s true, so I guess I have to believe it. 😛

Christmas was Sunday, and we had a wonderful day.

JJ got a new hockey bag, which was very much needed.

Jamie got a new (used) iPhone (my old one), which made him happy.  I don’t seem to have gotten any pictures of him opening it, though.

My eating on Sunday was pretty awful. I’d say that it’s a shame, since I actually did pretty well all week, but I’m really not too upset by it.  I love Christmas morning celebrations with just our little family of four, and I also love the food that surrounds the celebration.  I made pancakes and bacon and my husband and I had mimosas.  When I poured them out in our beautiful wedding stemware (seen in the photo of us above), my husband seemed a little miffed.  After he finished his glass, he went into the kitchen to get a refill, but came back with a very different glass.

Ha ha ha!

For dinner that night, the kids and I had lasagna soup, and then we finished off the leftover brownies JJ had made for my mom’s family gathering the night before. (And again, I forgot to get a good picture of them. :/) By the time I was done, I was a bit over my calories for the day.

😮  And when I marked the entry complete in My Fitness Pal, it showed me this.

Perhaps my eating was a bit excessive. 😉

I really considered skipping my weigh-in this week, because weighing in the morning after that kind of eating could not be pretty.  But I made a vow to myself and on my blog that I would stick with Monday weigh-ins, so I did it, and actually, it wasn’t as bad as I had feared.

Less than a pound, after a nearly 200% calorie overage, isn’t all that bad. I’ll admit that I’m a bit bummed that I’m still almost 7 pounds from goal heading into the new year. This is more than last year at this time, when I was only about 3 pounds above my goal.  :/ But, I’m hopeful that I’ll be able to get back on track after a tough holiday season and make it to goal once again.

On the bright side, I went into Weight Watchers last week to do my monthly weigh-in, after skipping the November one due to running out of time on the last day I could do it (it was November 30, the day of my husband’s awards ceremony, and I totally forgot that I had to weigh in until it was time to leave for the dinner!).  The woman who checked me in was so nice–even before I told her my sob story of why I missed the weigh-in last month, she told me she wasn’t going to charge me the missed meeting fee, because I am always so consistent and I shouldn’t be punished for missing one meeting.  🙂  When I told her about the awards ceremony, she said that was an even better reason not to charge me. I was fully ready to pay the $15 or whatever is is these days, but after four and a half years of weighing in under goal every single month, it was nice to be recognized for being a successful Lifetime member. And then, on top of that–I actually lost .8 pounds since the October weigh-in! 😀

Thanks for reading my blog this year and sticking with me through the ups and downs of 2016.  My best wishes to all of you for a happy and healthy 2017!
