And Then After Thanksgiving…

3 Comments on And Then After Thanksgiving…

I’ve been feeling very guilty about not keeping up with regular postings on my blog lately. (And by regular, I mean at least weekly.)  But then the other day, I got my Bloglovin’ daily update, which happened to only be showing me updates from “featured” blogs that it thinks I might like. (Probably blogs that pay to be “featured,” I’m guessing.)  And that’s when I realized that there are a LOT of blogs that I haven’t seen updates from in a long, long time.  So I went through my blog following list and did a quick review.  What I discovered is that, of the 25 blogs I follow, only five of them have any new content in the last month.  😮  And now I don’t feel so bad. :p  But hey, shouts out to Pinch of Yum, Less of a Better Me, Runs for Cookies, Running Just as Fast as She Can, and The Life of Bon for staying up-to-date!  I do still read blogs, even though I don’t always have the time to comment right now, so thanks for giving me reading material!

At any rate, I have been very busy with pictures lately.  I did team pictures for three hockey teams this year, and although I’ve got two down, I still have one to go, and it’s the biggest one (22 players!), and I’m trying to get the photos done and items ordered in time for Christmas, so that’s why I’ve been neglectful to my blog.  So, how about a super-quick recap with pictures?

We had two tournaments Thanksgiving weekend, one in Big Rapids (Jamie) and one in Port Huron (JJ). I went to Big Rapids with the high schoolers, and it was a fun trip. They didn’t win their games, but they played very well against teams that were definitely far above our skill ability, and we had fun.  I also got a 7-mile run in Saturday morning.  Unlike last year, my phone did not die and I did not get lost, so it was a lot more enjoyable, ha ha!

They had a wonderful running/biking path in Big Rapids, which made it easy to get my miles in while offering me some nice views.

Beautiful sunrise over the Muskegeon River.

The path included a bridge over the river. (I took the river sunrise shot from the bridge shown below.)

There was some wonderful architecture in the town, too.

Oh, and hills.  There were definitely hills. 😛

That hill was a lot more menacing than it looks from this picture.  My elevation gain for this run 265 feet! That probably sounds like nothing to most people from hilly locales, but my elevation run for my normal runs at home is 3ft, ha ha!

I did a lot of salads while I was gone, including this really awesome salad at the Gypsy Nickel Lounge on our way out of town.

Jamie and I left Big Rapids Saturday afternoon and then made the long, snowy trek across the state to Port Huron to catch what was left of JJ’s tournament.  I even made Jamie drive! 😮  He did very well, although he did accidentally get off in Flint and have some issues with a one-way street. 😛  We survived. 😉

It was a long weekend, and I was pretty tired after JJ’s Sunday morning game in a FREEZING cold arena, and when we went out to breakfast afterwards, my willpower kind of went out the window.  And instead of a healthy breakfast, I got this:

That’s a gryo omelette with hasbrowns.   It’s made with eggbeaters, so that counts for something, right? 😉 Yeah no, not according to my scale the next morning.

I think all the sodium from that breakfast on Sunday didn’t help.  I definitely felt I did better the next week, but something went wrong for my Monday weigh-in.

Wait, what? I didn’t lose ANY of that Thanksgiving weekend weight?  Boo hiss. 🙁

That was my weigh-in from this past Monday (December 3), and I was a bit surprised to find when I logged into my Weight Watcher app that I went from 30 points a day…to 23! 😮  Actually, I kind of knew it was coming, thanks to Kitty at Less of a Better Me.  That woman always seems to know how to find the inside scoop early! 🙂

I know there were a lot of more positive changes made to the program, but that sure is a tough mental hurdle. 😛  I’ll reserve making any judgments until I’ve had some time on the program.  On the bright side, I went to my “official” monthly weigh-in at Weight Watches on Wednesday, and I managed to be down 1.6 pounds, so I’m hoping that my weight this week was just a fluke.  We shall see how it fares after a week on “Weight Watchers Freestyle”!

That’s enough for now.  Thanks for reading!

I work hard to find everything for all of you! So far, I am actually liking the problem and finding it easier to stay within points (I am eating all of my weekly points and some FitPoints) and losing some of the few pounds I still want to lose. So — cautiously optimistic.

When I came to your blog today and started reading it I was actually just thinking that I need to get moving and do a blog post of my own…

Oh, I love that picture of the bridge.
