Without Hockey, I’d Be Bored

It was another fun-field hockey weekend for us, and I think I’m still recuperating. 😛

I actually got a break last Friday, because we decided to let Jamie go to the school dance instead of the tournament hockey game. He typically has practice or a game on Friday nights, and we had promised him the chance to go to the Christmas dance several months ago when we saw that there was actually no hockey scheduled that night. But of course, because we are a hockey family and that’s just how things go, they decided to do a tournament this past weekend at the last minute. Which is all fine and good for the team, but a promise is a promise, and he was really looking forward to it, so we let him go to the dance.

(Side note: I’d forgotten how dramatic middle school can be. I volunteered to chaperone the dance, and you would have thought I had volunteered to come flog him in front of the entire student body.)

I managed to get up and run 5 miles on Saturday morning at 5:30 a.m., before I had to head out for a meeting at the high school and then three hockey games. I’m happy to say that JJ’s team finally got another win, while Jamie’s team, although they did not win, skated hard against two very good teams.

Sunday was a morning hockey game for Jamie, then come home and do all the laundry and ironing, and then back out to Fraser for JJ’s game at 6 PM. I ended up having fast food for both lunch and dinner on Sunday, which was not ideal. A couple of chicken soft tacos from Taco Bell for lunch, and a Subway double chicken salad for dinner. I’ve mentioned that Sundays are difficult for me, because it’s one of only two days that I don’t run, so no extra calories are earned. It was tough, but I did manage to stay under my calorie goal on Sunday.

Monday morning, after my usual three-mile run, I weighed myself. For the last three weeks I’ve lost exactly .2 pounds each time. It doesn’t sound like much, but it did get me below 122 last week, down to 121.8 to be exact, and that was a first in a while.  Still, I was hoping for something different this time.  And…

No, seriously?? Dude, if I were creeping along any slower, I’d say I’d hit a plateau. :p Still, the last time I was below that weight was April 13, and that came after a week of being sick and not eating! So, I’ll continue on, and see what happens next week.  On the bright side, I did do my monthly Lifetime weigh-in this week, and I was pleasantly surprised to lose .6 pounds.  Even better, that’s on top of the weigh-in I had at the end of November (the day before Thanksgiving):

Down three pounds!  So, since the end of October, my “official” weigh-in has me down 3.6 pounds–not too shabby for a girl who only had 6 or 7 to lose, right? 🙂

If you know anything about Weight Watchers, you know that they came out with their new program this week. I was switched over on Monday, my normal weigh-in day according to my eTools. I will refrain from making any observations just yet, since I’m only on day four, but I will say…it’s definitely different than the prior program. I’m actually tracking both calories and Weight Watchers “SmartPoints” this week, and I’ll report on my progress and general observations next week.

For now, since I don’t have much else to talk about and not many pictures, here are a few.

That was the sunrise on a frosty morning last week when I drove the kids into school after a late night of hockey the night before.  And since we’re talking about those kids and hockey…

Those are my two little monsters, er, darling hockey players.  Dude, they have been driving me to the brink the last few weeks, but they ARE cute, aren’t they? 😉

Thanks for reading! I’ll check back in early next week, when I expect I’ll have lots to say about the new Beyond the Scale program. 🙂
