Back At It

Thank you so very much to everyone who has offered their get well wishes after I posted about my nasty cold last week.  Your support is very much appreciated!

I’m happy to report that I am finally getting over the stupid cold, slowly but surely.  I’m still a bit stuffy even now, but much better than I was late last week.  We had a pretty busy day on Saturday, but I managed to get up early enough to get a run in. I did four miles at what turned out to be a pretty slow pace for me, although really, “slow” is all relative, right?

I’ve been averaging sub-10 runs lately, so this one was a bit off my mark.  But you know what? I didn’t care—I was still pretty damn tired! Being sick really took a lot out of me, and I was just proud of myself for dragging my butt out of bed and running on a Saturday morning.  And “dragging” is pretty accurate, because I look like I was dragging in this post-run pic taken by DS#1.

LOL, I can’t believe I just put that out for the whole Internet to see. 😉

I ran again Monday morning, using my new treadmill because I was not enthusiastic enough to run in the hard rain. 😛 I used my foot pod to gather data, but I have discovered that the foot pod is ridiculously inaccurate.  Here’s what the Garmin said when I was done:

Hahahahahaha!!! Can you hear me laughing all the way to where you are?  The day I run anything in the low 8s is the day I’m running 40 feet. 😉 Here’s the final display from the treadmill:

If you do the math, that averages to a 10:15 pace, which is about right.  Clearly I need to figure out how to get my foot pod calibrated correctly.  Just one more thing on my list of things to do…!

On a good note, I weighed myself on Monday (as I always do), and I was pleased to see that I had dropped most of the weight I’d gained in the last two weeks.

(For reference, please note that I am 5’2”, 41 years old, and my healthy goal range according to Weight Watchers is anywhere from 109-137.)

I’ve decided that I think I like being about 113 pounds.  It feels good, my clothes all fit comfortably right now without being too loose or too tight, and in general, it seems like a good fit.  I haven’t thought about a “panic” weight yet, but I think I’m going to try to keep within 4 pounds of 113, so I suppose we could say 117 is my panic weight.  Boy, if you had told me a year ago that I’d say that 117 was my “start worrying” weight, I would have laughed at you. 😉  But it’s amazing what happens when you set your mind to something and really stick with it. 🙂

That’s all I have for tonight.  I have a couple of things I’m working on that I’m pretty excited about, one of which is a little “project” that isn’t quite so little…it’s pretty much taking up all of my free time!  The other is just something that I think is pretty neat, but it requires some outside help that I’m still working on.  I’m hoping to get them both done by the end of the week, so hopefully I won’t leave you hanging too long. 😉

But for now…it’s bed time!!  Thank you so much for reading my blog!

Haha…113 🙂 That’s right around my goal weight! Funny since I’m 5’1. I seriously scrolled up to look at your picture after I saw the scale picture. I didn’t read your little note till after.

Steph, you are so tiny – even bundled up you are tiny. Congrats on getting back into your range, it is nice to have a weight that just seems to fit. Keep up the great work and continue to feel better. I missed weigh in because of a meeting, so next week will be critical to see how I did with upping my points for maintanence. I might pop in at the local Saturday meeting just to touch base.

Hey! I just found your blog – your story is fantastic, congrats on everything!

It’s so hard to break out a run when you’re feeling under the weather, so great job on the run!
