17 Miles

No, not all at once, lol!

I just wanted to make a post today to celebrate my big accomplishment. 🙂

The kids have school Wednesday-Friday this week, but no bus service. (Don’t get me started…)  This means I have to drop them at school each day at 8am before I leave for work, which therefore makes me late for work. (I normally leave about 7:15am to get there by 8am).  The upside to this is that, while I’m late for work, I do get to sleep in a little.

This morning, however, I recognized that I could actually make good use out of that extra 45 minutes, so although it was really hard, I got up at 6am, put on all my Under Armour cold weather gear, grabbed my iPad and head-phones, and staggered out to the barn.  It was an invigorating 14 degrees according to my weather station, and since my barn isn’t at all heated, it was probably only a degree or two warmer.  Undaunted, I put in my headphones, put on another great podcast from Heather at Half Size Me, and proceeded to run 2.5 miles, finishing before 7am.  (Okay, actually I ran 2.55 miles because I wanted to get to exactly 27 minutes–that’s an extra Weight Watchers Activity Point, you know!! 😉 )

Later in the day, I was idly looking at my stats for the week when I realized I had hit a personal milestone…I had run 17 miles from last Saturday to today!

I was pretty darn proud of myself for that accomplishment!  I’ve been pretty steadily doing 9-12 miles per week since I finished the Free Press Marathon Relay, and then last week I busted out a little over 15, thanks to that extra 6 miles with Carrie.  I  was was feeling pretty pleased with myself after that!  But this week, I blew by that with an extra two miles! 🙂 In the freezing cold and sometimes snow, lol!

If you had told me a year ago that I’d be running, much less running 17 miles in a week, I would have asked you for some of whatever you were smoking. 😉 But look at me now, one year later…running…17 miles…in a week! 😀

Anyway, that’s all I have for today.  I just wanted to share how excited I am about this big milestone! Thanks for reading!
