Weighing In

I haven’t talked about my weight in a while, so let’s talk about that, shall we?  I weigh myself every Monday, I just don’t always mention it on the blog (mostly because I’m too busy complaining about training for a marathon in the Winter of My Discontent… 😛 ).

Things have actually been going well, and my scale has been quite kind as of late.  I’ve been under my “new” goal weight of 116 for a month now, and this past Monday, I was quite a bit below it:

I’ve been hovering between 114-115 since mid-December, actually, and I think the reasoning is probably pretty clear. (If you’re unsure, please reference “marathon training” above.)  I love the ability to eat more food without guilt, but at the same time, I really miss sleep.  A lot. 😛   Sometimes when I’m in my car driving to or from work, I allow my mind to drift off and fantasize about the day after my marathon…in that fantasy, I’m sleeping in my nice warm bed. All. Day. Long. 😉

The truth is, as much as I dream of what my life will look like post-marathon, I know that I need to be prepared for the fact that I won’t be able to eat as much (if I want to stay at or below goal, obviously). I love sleep, but as it turns out, I love food, too. 😉

Anyway, the point here is it feels really good to be back at goal.  I’ve actually lost 8 pounds since my high of 121.8 last September, and if you read my blog at all last year, you know there was a period of many months when I didn’t think I would ever get back to goal.  It’s so nice that my pants all fit again—especially since I’d bought a lot of new pants last year at this time when I was at my lowest, so I had a lot of money invested in pants that were too tight!

I haven’t shown off any pictures in a while, so I thought I’d put up a few I took this week.  The weather is still cold here in Michigan, and we’ve had plenty of snow lately.  On Sunday, we had to drive an hour away for an 8am hockey game , but thanks to the surprise snow Sunday morning, it was a rather stressful drive. After the game (a tie), the sun came out, and the boys were patient while I made a detour to take some pictures.

So pretty!

On Wednesday, we had another sub-zero day (never thought there would come a time when I’d be blasé about that), but in addition to the cold, we had fog, which froze due to the temperature. This created “freezing fog,” which attaches to objects it comes in contact with, and it’s actually quite beautiful.

Not my house…I wish it was! 😉  Normally I don’t post pictures of other people’s houses on my blog, and I debated this one for a long time, but Oh My Gosh this house exemplifies everything I love in life–history and beautiful photography! 🙂  Hopefully they’ll forgive me for putting their home on the web.

My pictures don’t really do it all justice because it was still a bit dark when I left for work and you can’t truly appreciate the beauty unless you can see it in the sunlight. I did increase the exposure post-production in the last one, just so you could try to get an idea of how gorgeous it all was.  My friend Katie got some great pictures later in the morning if you want to check them out.

And finally, my “hockey mom blog” has been sadly lacking in hockey pictures of late, so here are two that I took recently.  The first is of Jamie, being the defenseman he is.

If you don’t know, a major part of a defenseman’s job is to keep the opposing forward’s stick off the ice so he can’t take a shot if the puck comes his way.  🙂

The last picture is my sweet baby boy, known to you all as Daniel (not his real name).  He turned 8 on Tuesday, which astonishes me sometimes, because it seems like just yesterday he was a screaming crying baby. 😉  He has grown into an amazingly cheerful, fun-loving kid, who ran 2 miles on the treadmill last night as he prepares for his first-ever 5k next month! I’m so proud of him, and I’m especially proud of how hard he’s worked at hockey this year.  He’s in the middle of this shot below, which was taken just a few weeks ago.

Isn’t he cute? 😉

That’s enough for today.  Next time you hear from me, I’ll be talking about my 17 mile run…a new “record length” for me.  Hopefully it’ll be a good report, with no mention of ice or snow.  Ha.  I can’t even type that with a straight face. 😉

Thank you for reading!

Steph, gorgeous photos your neighborhood. What a beautiful time of year. Congrats on maintaining, God know this is the hard part. And yeah for photos of your boys, hockey monsters! I hope you are having fun watching the Olympics. Take care, darlings, and don’t turn into popsicles.

Thank you, sweetie! It was definitely a beautiful day, once I got through the driving, lol!

We’re not watching the Olympics as much as we would like–too much of our own hockey. 😉

      xoxoxo Love you!
