Our Corner of the World

I know I haven’t blogged in a week, but it’s officially summer, and I want to actually enjoy it. 🙂  I do very much appreciate the folks who read my blog regularly, but I have had a lot going on this spring, with all the hockey and baseball, and now that it is summer,  I want to actually enjoy what little of it I get before it disappears into a sea of hockey and school once again. 😉

So, to keep things brief, here’s my week…in pictures.

That’s me laying on the ground after a good, hard run Thursday afternoon.  I skipped my 3-miler on Thursday morning to sleep in, and thus had to run it in the afternoon, which I hate doing.  I worked super hard, despite the warm temp, and managed a 9:22 overall pace.

That’s my view of the sky from the ground, including my beloved anemometer. 🙂

That’s the view of my calendar from last Friday night. I can’t remember the last time I had a blank evening calendar!!  We watched TV and had a real dinner as a family–all four of us.  Chicken fajitas, in case you were wondering.

That’s Jamie running on a dirt road in our neighborhood on Saturday morning. He was on mile 4 of 5 at that time.  (For the record, I was on mile 9 of 10.)

That’s us after the run.  It was really hot at 9am, especially with that sun beating down, but he did great, as evidenced by his splits below.

He’s not as fast as he used to be, but he’s admittedly somewhat out of shape.  We’re working on it, and most importantly–HE RAN FIVE MILES! How many 12-year-olds do you know who can do that?

That’s Jamie with our new vacuum.  He is such an engineer–he was more excited about it than me.  He did all the research these last two months and I bought it based on his recommendations.  Please note–he also vacuumed the entire house on Saturday with it.  Yes, I am a lucky mom. 😉

That’s me with my two sisters.  The one on the left was in town from Chicago for a wedding, and it was nice to be able to get the three of us together.  Love my sisters!!

The boys at the Metropark for our annual Memorial Day bike ride.

Taking a break.  We rode 8 miles together (after I ran 5 miles when I got up).  JJ’s faces always make me giggle.

The boys showing off our 144 tomato plants (plus various peppers and a few other vegetables).  We said a prayer over the garden when we were done planting, in hopes that we will have a good crop this year after the last few year’s bad (and last year’s disastrous) crops.

Just a little of the beverages I consumed this weekend.  I had two of these, but I broke one this week. 🙁  These are my favorite wine glasses. (Gee, I wonder why…)

And finally…

My weight yesterday. I was not overly happy about it.  Yes, I lost a pound, but considering my goal weight is  in the 115s (ideal is in the 113s), I’m still discouraged.  But I lost and didn’t gain, so you have to take the positives when you can, right?

That’s it for me for now.  Hope everyone is having a great week.  Thanks for reading!!

I love all your picture updates 🙂 And you have to love engineer minded children..we happen to have two of them in the house…they will fiddle with anything! Can be quite dangerous with an adult engineer in the house also! Do you think he could fly to Washington to vacuum my house? ;0)

I love the pictures. Good luck with your garden. I will think green thoughts for it!
Love that you get out and are active with your boys. That just makes me smile.
